Acceptance of Acorn International ATA Carnets for 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar

Acorn International

Customs Authorities in Qatar have approved the use of ATA Carnets for professional equipment used in connection with the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup, from October until the end of December 2022. This includes broadcasting, sound, camera, and sports equipment. An ATA Carnet is an international customs document that allows duty-free and tax-free temporary import of goods.

Catherine Stephens, Head of International Trade Services at Acorn International said:

“This is very good news for organisations involved in the 2022 FIFA World Cup, considering that when Qatar first implemented the ATA Carnet scheme back in 2018, applications were limited to goods displayed or used at exhibitions and trade fairs. Professional equipment such as broadcasting equipment was unable to be imported for temporary admission. When applying for your Carnet, please state “Professional Equipment / FIFA World Cup 2022” in Box C of the Carnet application form and note that this relaxation of rules is only applicable to the goods that will be used in connection with the World Cup.”
